Taking a well-earned rest

A seven hour hike today starting from base camp, walking alongside all twenty nine locks of the canal, back up the other side then branched off to walk up to Oliver's fort, which we could see in the distance.

We made the long trek uphill only for Tony to discover he'd lost his jacket, along with mobile phone and car keys. He didn't even need car keys with him at all. He and Sheila trudged back down the hill whilst JJ and I headed for the top, eventually seeing two little specks walking across a field to the stile where it lay.

This is a picture of JJ having a rest while we waited for T & S to make the climb for a second time.

The weather is amazing and Devizes is a perfect base, but there are far too many inns for our sort of pub crawl. Another long walk tomorrow.
