Learning day by day

Treat time

During the summer the lack of routine had a detrimental effect on Will's willingness to practice the violin sensibly. So this week he was set a challenge, practice sensibly four times, keeping still and he would get a sticker from his teacher. I added an extra, do all that and be sensible during the lesson and I would make sure he got a treat. (That makes it sound like he doesn't normally behave in lessons, he does, he just get distracted by the piano and wants to show Ros his tremalando or use her mute!). He was very good so he got his treat. It was meant to be at the gelato place in town, but it was so hot inside I couldn't breath so we went to Just Desserts. It was busy, our order got lost. In the past that would have been an issue, keeping Will entertained,  but he did some maths and then read his book until his sundae arrived. He loved it and did share some haribo with me. This isn't going to be a regular thing, but he has been told if he continues the way he did this morning it may happen again in the future.

Carys meanwhile may well have broken her left little toe this morning. It is black and sore. It didn't stop her going to the Hitchin West Guiding Garden Party this afternoon, although it was tricky to get shoes on. She was sensible though and avoided the bouncy castle.

Generally a good day, other than the washing machine dying last night in billows of steam and a slight burning smell and a smoke alarm going off! Not what you need on a Friday with school uniform to wash! Thankfully Nanna's washing machine came to the rescue. Hopefully I'm sorted now until next week by which time I hope we will have a replacement. I can't complain really, the machine was 13 years old.
