Dayspring by Bellanoch Bridge

A day of sunny sunshine ! Perfect !

This morning we drove round to Bellanoch Bridge on the Crinan canal and had a walk with Maeve the Deerhound along past Bellanoch Marina, the Print Wagon, the red roofed house on the water, and Crinan Bridge to Crinan itself. On such a perfect day it was no surprise to find that that it was very busy at Crinan. There were lots of comings and goings with yachts of various sizes coming in through the sea lock and setting off along the canal towards Ardrishaig. We stayed for a while watching the people and the boats and enjoying the warmth of the sun, then we walked back along to Bellanoch.

We drove North to Kilmartin museum cafe for lunch, then we went down the glen to the standing stones car park. From there we took our sketchbooks and pencil boxes and went across to Temple Wood to make some sketches. When a group of American tourists arrived we went back across to the standing stones (I put Maeve in the car) and we made a sketch of the stones.

We finished the afternoon on our last full day by letting Maeve rest in the car whist Apothecary7 and I climbed up the hill to see the remains of the iron age fort at Dunadd. Our cottage for the week is by the farmhouse right at the foot of the hill.
