Beneath Biscay

Say cheese

A cheese tasting was the order of the day for Sunday afternoon.

Various artisanal Asturian cheesemakers, blessed or not, were showing their fine cheeses.

I left with a wedge of Gamonéu and a piece of 'Afuega'l pitu' two of the traditional Asturian cheeses.

Gamonéu is like a slightly smoked and milder version of the more well know Cabrales blue cheese, while 'Afuega'l pitu' is a soft white (or orange coloured when paprika is added) cheese for spreading.

Packet of Jacob's cream crackers purchased, free bottle of red wine from yesterday's fiestas, so we're all set!
