Getting the sparkle back

Odd couple

I met up with T at Blackford Pond for the first time in about seven weeks. The cygnets were much bigger and more independent of each other, also now with proper wings, but unlikely to get airborne for a bit yet I expect. There were three moorhens, but no coots and no little grebes. We saw just one tufted duck, this female, who seemed to be trying to convince the mallards that she was one of them, especially this male mallard who was looking very smart in his new breeding plumage.
