Workride #2 Anthony Lane

Once I've set off from home I turn down Anthony Lane which takes me to the main road in to our village.  Some years ago the Village Society placed a stone in the wall on the bend to the right which commemorates the site of St Anthony's Well.  Allegedly St Anthony stopped off here to quench his thirst on his pilgrimage north.  The wells were described as running parallel to our street through our back gardens/allotments but were filled in at some point many years ago.  It's a pity because it would have made Tony's job of watering the veg much easier in summer!
