St John's Kirk, Perth

I didn't know (until I looked it up) that this is the oldest building still standing in Perth!  It was built between 1440 and 1500 on the site of an even earlier church, which first appeared in written records in 1128.  That's old:-)

It has a fascinating history too, with a speech in the church by the reformer John Knox in 1559 causing riots which destroyed the three monasteries in the town and then later, in the 18th century, being divided into three separate churches within the same building!

This was the only photo I took today, as I had to go into Perth for various reasons, so in spite of cutting off the spire entirely, this had to be my blip!
