Sheep shearing championships in Tallipiha

We saw sheep shearing championships today in Tallipiha. There were nine competitors and Richard Schofield from the British Wool Marketing Board was the chief judge. The winner was Jukka Vitikka. Very interesting and impressive event!

Speep are sheared 1-2 times per year. If a beginner shears 10 sheep, it will take two days. A pro could shear 100 sheep in a day! The main goal of today's championships is to promote expertise of shearers and commit sheep friendly shearing that produces high quality raw wool material.

Me and Leevi visited the Art Center Mältinranta while hubby waited outside with Sami the dog. Mältinranta is one of the galleries where the 6th Triennal of Pirkanmaa is held. The main events of the Triennial are during 12.9.-15.10.2015. In addition to showcasing the Triennial in the main exhibition venues, it will be visible throughout the Tampere urban area as well as in the various residential areas of Tampere and in the neighbouring communities.  Map of the Triennal: http://pirkanmaantriennaali.weebly.com/kartta1.html

I liked the Mältinranta exhibition very very much and highly recommend it to all who can make it. But you should hurry in order to see it, it will be open only till 29th September.

Emma's team had semi finals today against Russian SDJUSHOR -7 Prinemania. Pyrintö won 74 - 52!! That means Pyrintö will be in the finale tomorrow. It's amazing! And it's great that we can follow the live reporting of the games via internet. Tomorrow will be exciting day.
