Going...

We joined the world and his wife, child, grandchild and every relation in his family tree, in near gridlock conditions, to watch the spectacle of the demolition of the Cockenzie Power Station Chimney Stacks and Turbine Hall.

And so it was, the two chimneys falling gracefully into each other and combining to release their spirit as a ghostly man. We waited for the next phase, that of the building, but nothing happened; then we heard word that it would be demolished at another time. Thanks to Miss Flum and her photoshopery prowess you can see a blow-by-blow progress of the event in one Blip.

On arriving home we learned that the Turbine Hall had indeed fallen and we had it on camera - see extra photo of the sandy coloured dust on the nearside of the large building (which is in fact the boiler house) - but nobody around us had recognised it.

The chimneys were a landmark and will be greatly missed.
