Sgwarnog: In the Field

Omen

The kids and I spent a low key Saturday around the village: a quick visit to the farmer's market and then to Co-op for some baking ingredients, a run around in the playground and then home to bake vegan brownies.

And then we ate some vegan brownies.

Somewhere along the way we popped into the community garden where we found several Red Admirals and Small Tortoiseshells, along with a couple of Speckled Wood and a single Peacock. A Large White flew through but didn't tarry. Five species in the one spot, not bad for late September.

I've decided Red Admirals must be good omens for the Welsh rubgy team. What better way to draw Saturday to a close than to watch their World Cup victory over England.
