Twin-engined Powerhouse

A male common darter dragonfly (Sympetrum striolatum)

I am adding the whole image as an extra.

[EDIT]
In case any of you are wondering how I got so close, I have discovered a simple trick that I also use with butterflies. I works best on cool windy days. You have to pretend your arm is a branch swaying in the wind, so with a small camera in hand, loosen your elbow joint and let your hand/camera sway from side to side as you gradually move it closer, pausing every-so-often to press the shutter. I got to within about three inches of this one.
