Summer weather, autumn harvest

While the sun shone  I was in the cafe kitchen preparing food for next week's menu.
Some overgrown courgettes we've been given were used in a recipe for marrow curry I spotted a few days ago and the blackberries I picked at the weekend went into a blackberry and apple charlotte using surplus bread and  some of the apple glut (the rest have gone for juicing).
My fellow cook made chocolate and courgette cakes which are  always a hit at this time of year.
Meanwhile the schoolchildren who come for a session with us once a fortnight were lining cardboard boxes with aluminium foil to make solar ovens (see extra) - it may be the future, who knows?
