Mrs N.

is all sweetness, a little handful of a woman slightly bent over her walker. As I chatted with her, I found out she was from Vietnam and I rightly assumed she spoke French. She told me she was connected to the royal family and had escaped communism as one of the 'boat people.'  She described her native country, from which she's now been away for the better part of her life, with great love and made me promise to come talk to her if I ever planned on visiting it. It also turns out her son works for the same organization I did; small world...

Mrs N. is one of the elderly that is part of the portrait series I've been commissioned to do. [as usual, best viewed in large]
