Cod and Chips

The fresh fish we've just eaten were,
till yesterday, still swimming in the sea.
They've had their chips
and, with them, so have we.

Before we went away for 12 days, I predicted that by our return, without daily cutting, my home-sown sweet peas would be over and gone to seed. How wrong I was! They're still covered in flowers, and we have a vaseful on the mantelpiece, smelling softly sweet. What a lovely surprise that was! (See Extra.)

Today is the 1st October and it remains warm and sunny, with a deep blue sky. So lovely, even if it is a few degrees cooler than south Germany.

Our internet connection is utterly dire today, it has taken me over two hours to post this! (Done some ironing while watching the little wheels go round and round in between anything happening, and eaten a bowl of strawberries, mind you!) So, apologies for lack of comments for the time being, and many thanks for all your kind words, stars and hearts. All much appreciated!
