An Abundance of Herons

An abundance of herons greeted my eye as Music and I arrived at Inner Harbor Park. A great blue flew up and away, and a great white landed on a dead limb across the harbor. But just on the edge of the marsh was a juvenile night heron eagerly watching for wayward minnows to swim within reach of his thrusting beak.

I crept closer, but Music's presence was not conducive to subtle photographing of wild birds. So I walked him a bit, then put him back in the car to try again. Not the clearest of shots, but I like the green and lavender colors in the water behind the heron. And I like the twist of his neck as his head turns counter to his body direction.
