First Iris

This is not the first Iris to flower this year; that was the purple miniatures by the pond. But these yellow Irises were the first we planted, by the water feature near the back door, about eight years ago, and they never fail. This is Iris Pseudacorus - Yellow Flag - often seen growing wild.

Their glory is all the more special in that it only lasts a few days. In this appalling weather, that life may be even shorter.
