La Boca

This morning we paid a visit to the colourful La Boca area. We drove past the stadium, but did not go in this time - 10 years ago we saw a practice by Boca Juniors and saw the Hand of God - now mighty paunchy.

After a wander in this colourful area we went via the very up-market Ricoletta area with lovely French style mansions, now embassies, before calling at the cemetery with all the elaborate mausoleums, to pay respects to Evita who is in a tomb there. It is very similar, though with much bigger structures, to Per Lachese in France, but without the spliffs.

In the afternoon we went to Tigre, a suburb in the Delta but the navy museum was closed, as was the one about Mate - I can't imagine what they can show about that apart from a flask, a straw and the coco cup.

We have to leave at 3.30am for our flight to Iguazu Falls, then the following day it is north to Salta and a few days later to Bolivia and the high altitude salt flats. We know it is very remote and as there is no running water I'm pretty sure there won't be wifi. So it could be a week before I post again.

Thanks for reading! I'll catch up someday.
