Steamer

The Milano ferry boat at the jetty in Lenno. It is a warm sunny day and the ferries are busy on the lake today. Instead while the trippers on the lake busy themselves we are sedately having lunch at the Bar Sport.

The bar is misnamed as there is nothing "sport" about it. But is does very nice salads and a pleasant house white wine. No need for anything more sporting than that in my opinion.

The Milano is not actually a steamer, but it is designed as a smaller copy of one of the other boats on the lake, the paddle steamer Concordia. To look a the Milano give the impression there should be paddles on either side of the boat, but it is an illusion. The Milano is the most picturesque of the boats running a regular ferry service during the summer.

I have just noticed that Labrador Scheila has nosed her way into the picture, bottom centre. She can just be seen swimming back to the shore. We saw her out swimming and on her boat [or towing the boat] several times during our stay here this summer. I see she now has her own Facebook page. Here she is towing the boat, which can just be seen coming into the right of the photograph.
