Bellagio

Today we walked along the Greenway to Tremezzo where we had lunch before returning the Lenno on a ferry. Before leaving we had a long conversation with the lady who owns one of the shops in Tremezzo. We have got to know her as we have bought things from her in the past, though not on this occasion.

Her sister is an artist, and this year she has produced a calendar of her paintings of some of the area. We bought several of these calendars as possible presents. Everybody round here speaks English, but she knows I want to practise my Italian, so our conversation was almost entirely in Italian. She told us the calendar has been a sellout, next year she better do a longer print run!

The photograph is taken from Tremezzo, but shows the village of Bellagio on the opposite bank of the lake. This illustrates how narrow is Lake Como, even though it is long, 46 Kms (30 Miles) and has a depth in places of over 400 Mtrs, with an average depth of 154 Mtrs.
