Sands Films

This weekend is Open House London and one of the many places we visited today was Sands Films.  It's located in Rotherhithe in an old granary building where they make period costumes (Poldark, Wolf Hall, etc.) and we were able to tour the wardrobes and workrooms, really impossible to choose a picture for today's blip.  It was fascinating and a lot of fun, a really good tour which I can recommend.

We had lunch at the Mayflower Pub across the street, pie and mash and gravy, which set us up for the rest of the day.  From there we made our way into the City to Spital Square to see an old house that's now the hq for the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings; next was Bishopsgate Library and Hall.  Back on the tube traveling west to Belgrave Square where we saw the Italian and Romanian Cultural Institutes, and the Argentine Embassy building (the only place where no photos were permitted).  To Pimlico to St. Barbanabus Church where we were delighted to find they were serving tea and cake - ginger cake and very delicious it was, baked by a local lady they all called Mary Berry II.

Sloane Square to Peter Jones for a rest and some more tea and cake, I was getting a little nervous in line as there was only one slice of lemon drizzle cake left - thankfully I got it.  A great view across west London from the café.  Bumped into two old friends, they didn't recognize me but had recognized my companion, so that was fun to catch up.
