The slow train(s) to ..........

We left Bologna this morning, taking the slow train to Porretta Terme in the Appennines. We had four hours till our next train, so had a wander around, after leaving our bags in a hotel close to the station. Attractive little town which looked good in the sunshine (the blip is the reflection in a stream heading for the River Reno, which flows through the town). We had lunch at the hotel, which was excellent. I've not been to a place before where guests were having lunch whilst wearing white dressing gowns. Seems this is what you do in a good spa hotel.

Onwards then to Pistoia, and a quick change for the Lucca train which was our final destination. Evening perambulation through town and onto the town walls - lots of very earnest young people jogging and doing various exercises in the evening twilight. And loads (of all ages, shapes and sizes) biking - cycling heaven, we might well have a go ourselves.
