Failte

I was in Oban all day and this evening the town plays host to the opening of the week long Gaelic Mod.

The Mod has been held here more often than in any other place. I attended my first Mod here in 1978 and it was here that I made a film about the Mod ("Ports of Call") for the BBC in 1992.

I thought a blip that connected the town - which is the gateway to the islands - to the language would be good to find and it didn't take me long. This is the sign for the main car park in the middle of Oban.

Or "Meadhan" .
