Backblip 1st October: Dewdrops

It had clearly been colder overnight on the far side of the Pentland Firth. We had slept quite cosily at the ring of Brodgar but when we disembarked at Scrabster the world was shrouded in mist arising from an overnight frost. We drove through the patchy landscape until we reached Sibster, a new broadleaf forest adjacent to Georgemas Junction station, just outside Thurso.

Sibster turned out to be the perfect breakfast stop, and ideal for running the legs of a dog recently confined on the ferry. Teddy also got out of the van for a look around.

Everything was bedecked in diamond necklaces! There must have been billions of spiders at work in the scrub. I both took fewer photos than I thought that I had and failed to get even one in proper focus!

We spent about an hour just strolling the paths and enjoying the crisp autumn morning. Later we drove down to Dornoch, in increasingly hot sunshine.
