Diwali Hindu Festival of Light

What a beautiful day!!!

We decided to make the most of the weather and walk as much as possible.

So, we left our hotel and walked to Shoreditch for breakfast. From there to St Paul's, Fleet Street, the Royal Courts of Justice, Covent Garden, The Portrait Gallery and Trafalgar Square.

As recommended by JohnH1989 we planned to see the Audrey Hepburn exhibition at the Portrait Gallery but we should have booked!!!! We had a coffee and quick look at the Tudors and later 20th Century and then went into Trafalgar Square for the Diwali Hindu Festival.

We were dressed in Saris (for a donation) and made advantage of the obvious photo opportunities.

(I stopped dyeing my hair this year having been fairly "grey" since my twenties. I still get a bit of a shock when I see photos of myself!! )

We walked across Horse Guard's Parade into Whitehall where there was a Turkish Peace demo taking place. Following yesterday's shocking suicide bombings in Ankara, the police were out in force.

On to have a gander at Westminster Abbey and the Houses of Parliament (2nd pic) then across the bridge to the Southbank and its attractions.

We found the tube at Blackfriars and returned to Paddington.

No delays and we were back at Pewsey by 7.10pm.

(I took advantage of the hotel shower due to having no bathroom at home!!!)
