The Edge of the Wold

Calm at sunset

The calm refers to the calm water, which less than half an hour earlier had been coarsely stippled by the light breeze.  As so often happens, the wind dropped as the sun set, and the water became more mirror-like.    This is New Barns Bay again, no heron nor curlew this time to position itself in the bright water.  The light show is as sudden, changing and short-lived as a fireworks display, the uplighting rays reminding me of the Northern Lights that we saw searchlighting the sky last week on Raasay (and yet to be back-blipped).  I had a good run of sunrises before we went away, and this last three days it has been a similar run of sunsets.

Work was full on after just over a week away, and there is another busy day ahead tomorrow, and another beyond that, and so on it goes....   Gus's evening walk along the estuary now starts as soon as we roll back into the village after leaving Kendal at 1720.  We have to make the most of these evenings now, as soon we will be leaving work in the dark.

Thank you for all the hearts and stars for yesterday's.  I may be a bit short on comments tonight, I'm bushed.
