My brother and I bushwhacked along the Trans-Canada Trail near Glenora. Yesterday I saw elk tracks on the trail. This morning we followed the tracks into the forest. We saw old-growth fir and cedar, skunk cabbage, devil's club and lots of ferns.

We live near or in a rainforest. Average annual precipitation for the Cowichan Valley is 40.9 inches, Salt Spring Island 38.4 inches, Victoria 23.9 inches, Port Renfrew 144.5 inches and Tofino 130.2 inches. The rain keeps Vancouver Island green.
