Rapid Shot

I decided to take a walk to Almondell Country Park this afternoon, as I noticed yesterday that, due to all the recent rain, the River Almond was running much higher than of late.

Thought this small set of rapids offered the best opportunity. Most of the rocks are normally above water but they are all covered right now.

The water is normally very peaty, although I think some of the present colour is due in part to the silt that's being washed downstream.

The bridge in the background is the Naysmyth Bridge, built in 1800 and, after one side fell away, it was fully restored in 1998.

The park is very popular with locals and attracts visitors all the year round.
