Slow-worm

Friday, thank goodness - it's been a long, hard week!

Finished work mid-afternoon, so an earlier-than-usual walk on Wooler Common, partly to escape the plumbers, but more of that later. MrM moved this slow-worm from the path on the Common, for fear of someone standing on it, and put it in the undergrowth. It was alive but very sluggish - maybe it's ready to hibernate? It's very well camouflaged in these surroundings.

Day 4 of the great upheaval. Plumbers arrived first thing and soon afterwards a huge lorry with a cherry-picker drove up - to allow them to make a hole through the wall of the (first-floor) flat for the boiler flue. By the time the plumbers left this evening - after 6.00pm- the boiler was working and we have heat. Too much heat as the boiler seems to stay on when says it's off, but that can be sorted in the morning - no lie in for us tomorrow! Next week they start ripping the bathroom apart...
