Grazing in the mist

This evening didn't go quite as planned! Set off to go over the Border to pick up some wood from our friends Tom and Dorothy. But road closures meant that we spent quite a while driving round on narrow country roads with lots of other diverted traffic, encountering several lorries and tractors on the way. We didn't manage to get very far before deciding to give up as a bad job, so we turned round and came home again! The mist was rising in the fields as we drove back.

As we started out we were treated to a fabulous sunset, and Yeavering Bell resembled a smouldering Vesuvius for a while! See extra.

Day 3 of the great upheaval. Connecting pipework in place, and ancient (unused by us) dishwasher removed from kitchen to enable access to the space behind it. And we still have hot water!
