The Golden Boot!

We have been orienteering at Helsington above Kendal today in the Compass Sport Cup Final which is an annual competition between clubs who have won through the preliminary rounds.  There were two competitions, for smaller and larger clubs.  In the latter our club, Airienteers came 5th,  just one point behind Bristol with the winner being Forth Valley from Stirling.

In recent years it has been the tradition to award a trophy called the Golden Boot, to the male and female competitors who have the fastest run-in of the day, that is from the final control to the finish line.  This year the men's competition was tied by five runners who all took 38 seconds.  I took 1 min. 18 secs (!) so, as a bit of fun, it was suggested that they should have a re-run to decide who took the Golden Boot away.  I positioned myself behind the finish to get this blip of them dipping for the line, and narrowly missed being taken out by a knee!
