Birthday Flyout

It’s me birfday!!!!!!!! I was spoilt by new Pandora Charms (including a rather splendid Pudsey) and Yankee Candles amongst other things, as well as a new necklace featuring our wedding Trinity Knots.

We had planned a flyout to celebrate … maybe to France, but the weather forecast rather spoilt that and we decided to wait until the actual day to see what to do. I was pleasantly surprised when looking out the window to see that it was flyable … although the forecast bad weather was due in later that pm (so we decided against going over the Channel!). Our chariot for the day was to be the new Robin which has joined the EGSR fleet.
We opted instead for ‘The 4 Counties of East Anglia Birthday Flyout’. We started at Earls Colne in Essex and flew to Duxford in Cambridgeshire. Weather was fine with some sun even joining us at Duxford! Classic Wings were operating their Tiger Moths and the Spitfire was doing rides too (and a nice fly-past down the runway!). A pleasant surprise to see it was a friend who was the Spit pilot and I got a birthday kiss!! Opted for a rather marvellous cheese scone in the Naffi to go with my drink.
Next stop was Seething in Norfolk and the weather began to cloud over and was looking rather miserable when we landed. After a quick cuppa and a chat we checked the weather and decided to make a move South. Not very nice climbing out of the airfield into some low rainy cloud, but a few miles South the cloud base lifted and we had a pleasant flight into Suffolk.
The stop at Elmsett was just so we could change pilots (so it was a fair sharing out of the flying between us!) and then it was back to the home airfield where balloons, birthday cake & candles awaited us. The balloons even managed to migrate from the clubhouse onto my car!! A pleasant surprise plus the scrummy chocolate cake …. Mmmm!!
We went out for a meal at the Mariners in town which is a boat moored in the redeveloped old dock area in town. We received vouchers as part of our wedding present and used one for the meal. It is a French bistro and we had a lovely meal and evening out.
Perfect birthday!!
