The splendid hall was holding one of its open days today and was very quiet when I decided to pop in. Opened in 1903, most of the great performers, orchestras and speakers of the pre-WW2 era performed here to sell-out audiences. You can purchase copies of a poster over 50 years old when The Beatles appeared on this very stage.

A century later, it needed some structural work and, with lottery funding, underwent a total refurbishment before re-opening in 2008.
