Ideal weather conditions...

... as I drove through Burnley around noon today. I decided to divert onto Crown Point Road to visit a site I don't think I have blipped before.

This is the Singing Ringing Tree, a large sculpture of galvanised steel tubes, high on the hill overlooking Burnley. Today was ideal because not only was there a dramatically changing cloud backdrop, there was also a wind which causes the sculpture to 'sing' as the wind blows through the tubes.

This is one of four structures, so-called panopticons, on high view points around East Lancashire. They were created about a decade ago and are well worth visiting. This is probably the most spectacular, designed by Mike Tonkin and Anna Liu.
