Chameleon

Stopped off briefly on my way back from Manchester this morning.

This is Thorn Court at Pendleton, which is currently being refurbished. Behind is Spruce, which is almost complete.

This 1969 block is being reclad in chameleon cladding. So called because it's colour changes with the light. This is what it looks like on a very dull drizzly day.

Prior to 1969 and the total redevelopment of this area, it was Hanky Park, the location for Walter Greenwood's "Love on the Dole". The buildings have changed, but I imagine that there is still a bit of love on the dole.
