Alpha males

40 years ago, give or take a day or two, I was thrown together with three other young men into digs in Albert Grove, Nottingham.

I had applied for halls, but they were full, and so I was placed with a landlady and three strangers. The four of us shared two bedrooms and a study. We also shared a kitchen and bathroom with the landladies daughter, Faye. Faye was a thirty something lady with a police officer boyfriend and we had house rules to keep us in line.

It didn't take us long to become firm friends and enjoyed jigh-jinx with each other until we were asked to leave due to 'fraternisation' with females. With our brotherhood fragmented we lost touch and only became reaquainted many years later by chance.

So here we are, in Walberswick, with Southwold across the water after a scrummy lunch in The Bell. {It had to be done! Charlie hadn't been there since 1977!}
