Day 2 on Ocracoke Island

We forgot the remote to our Roku set. We couldn't find any place that sold replacement remotes...they kept saying we had to buy the whole set. UGH! The nearest place we could find that sold Roku sets was at Walmart which was in Kitty Hawk, NC. We were dismayed to find that, to get there, we would have to drive the 14 miles through Ocracoke Island, get on a ferry boat that would take us to Cape Hattares, a whole hour away. Once on Cape Hatteras, we must drive a whole hour to Kitty Hawk. As we got up very late this morning, that trip would eat up a giant chunk of our day. We had to get the remote...Ocracoke normally shuts down by 8 PM at night so we must bring our own favorite entertainment, which was watching movies.

After buying the Roku set, we decided to sample the local cuisine and found a restaurant minutes from Walmart called Oceanside Bar and Bistro. I had seafood cerviche, wild salmon, and this yummy dessert (the restaurant's signature ice cream sandwich...cinnamon ice cream between two oatmeal cookies. Heavenly. Ultimate comfort food after such a trying day.
