My Life in Pictures

We're home

We woke up to this. A flood warning had been issued and they announced they were going to shut down the ferry boat later in the afternoon.

Ocracoke Island does not drain very well or quickly after a torrential storm. The forecast for Friday, Saturday and Sunday was 100% rain.

We didn't feel like being cooped up inside the cottage all through the weekend, so we just packed up all our stuff and bailed out of the island for good.

We left the island around noon, managed to catch the last ferry boat. Cape Hatteras was flooding as well and the visibility was very poor. But we managed to get home safely around 10 PM.

We are disappointed that our vacation was cut short so drastically, but grateful we're home safe, warm and dry. We'll be picking up our animals at the boarding first thing tomorrow morning, which makes us very happy.
