Bookclub and Blip

My first mono Monday for a while.  Thank you nickimags888 for the topic Origins.
This year I have been reading Jane Smiley's trilogy about a farming family in Iowa.  Essentially I think it is about the origins of one family near the beginning of last century and it will end 100 years later in the near future 2019. It is also about the origins of so much that has happened in those 100 years as the family multiplies and spreads out from Iowa to live in places throughout America.  In the first book Walter has returned to Iowa after WW1 and he and Rosanna begin their life together on a remote farm.  The land, the animals, the weather were so essential to their survival but now in the third book the characters are very distant from those origins and live more urban lives. 
I'm loving getting lost in this fictional family and in the American landscape and history.
