Giving...

Dear Diary,

I take part in the Google+ community, Adventures in Seeing moderated by Kim Manley Ort.  Each week we reflect on a word taken from David Whytes book Consolations.  This week the word was "Giving".  This is the photograph I used for my reflection.

For me, giving is an unsolicited gift of love.  It might mean time spent with a friend, helping out at a local charity or being sure the bird feeder is always filled.  Nature is the ultimate gift giver.  The refreshing rain to quench a dry landscape and fill the ponds, the warm sun to help things grow, and the small berries on the tree that will feed hungry birds this winter.

Each day is a gift and how we choose to live that day is a gift we give ourselves.  We can be filled with negativity and anger or positive joy.  It is up to us.  Each is a self-fulfilling prophesy.   We, none of us, know how many of these daily gifts of life we have left to open so I try to receive them with deep gratitude and wish for nothing else.
