Origins - MonoMonday91

This is my entry for this week's MonoMonday (#mm91), kindly hosted by Nickimags888.  The theme is 'Origins' and my interpretation the happy co-incidence of a Gas Services van parked under this lime tree just at the point when it's weeping leaves.

The 'natural' gas we use has its origins when layers of decomposing plant and animal matter are exposed to intense heat and pressure over thousands of years. The energy that the plants originally obtained from the sun is stored in the form of chemical bonds in natural gas.  So here you see the beginning of that process - the tree growing a layer of cells under the leaf joints so the leaf can no longer do its job and photosynthesise but loses its green colour and drops.

By September each year the leaves of this lime tree - which grows outside my kitchen window - are a rather hard thick green.  By leaf fall (now) they've turned a light papery almost transparent yellow.  I always love this moment, which only lasts a few days before they're all on the path, because the tones and the light filtering through changes so much.  So I've been hoping for a chance to catch this blip and MM91 has given it to me!  Thank you so much Nickimags888

And that's me for today.  Hope Monday's treated you kindly and that you enjoy the rest of your evening  xx
