Not quite the Angel of the North ....

But the proud guardian which perches at the entrance of one of Shropshire's most prominent caravan, camping and leisure stores on the outskirts of Shrewsbury where I visited rather late in the day to top up caravan supplies and just as the light was going, and it was only 5pm.

The sulpture is a giant golden eagle  with a 30 feet wingspan and is the creation of Anthony ‘Fred’ Peacock, a talented artist at Marche Studios at Ford, near Shrewsbury. The eagle is 14 feet high, weighs 1,580 kilos and took 2,940 hours to create from sheet metal.   Sorry I haven't been able to do it justice with this photo.
