On the banks of the Allan Water

While walking past Robert Louis Stevenson cave alongside the Allan Water this afternoon I smelt something strange, yet familiar.

Surely not here? In this isolated spot?

Then it clicked. Cannabis. And it was coming from the cave.

A few minutes later a young couple, probably students, emerged smiling broadly…

There is a famous old Scottish song, By the Banks of Allan Water ,and here are two  versions,  one sung by opera diva
Adelina Patti and the other by a young student, Davina,

It’s the same song sung by two women separated by over 100 years.
