Halloween Spirit, Penn State Style!

It's Halloween week, and that means it's time to dress up as somebody you're not and go pilfering some tasty candy! Or at least, that's what I think it means.

This is a scene from the building where I work. The ladies who do the cleaning and janitorial tasks for our building are very creative; this display is something they arranged. (And there's candy just around the corner to the right - and yes, I have nabbed some. I am eating a tiny Hershey's chocolate bar even as I type this - we'll just think of it as the breakfast of champions!)

The goal post was there before - actually, since the beginning of football season, I think - and so were the creatures. They started out wearing Penn State Nittany Lion gear (and yes, that's an "unrivaled" poster on the wall to the left, and a spirit pennant to the right), and then recently, some Halloween masks and garnishes were added.

Who is that behind our friendly crew? What? A dark, menacing figure. Wait, it looks like the Grim Reaper! There are also two rather large spiders placed strategically on the goal posts. Between the Reaper and the huge spiders, things are getting kind of dangerous around here. Look out, friends!

Then again, perhaps there is no reason for fear at all. After all, it's all in fun, right? No actual harm will come to our masked friends. And so the tune to accompany this scene is Blue Oyster Cult, with Don't Fear the Reaper.

Happy Halloween to you and yours! May you have some fun and receive more treats than tricks!
