Checkpoint

The little lane in which our house and our neighbour’s house is situated, used to be a cul-de-sac, ending at the gates of our local quarry and with a footpath meandering from there up onto our local hill.  As a result of EEC directives our local council was forced to reclassify the footpath as a byway, so that it could be used by four-wheel drive motor vehicles; it is now not the quiet little lane that it once was.  This is not all bad, today Trailscape had organised a number of runs along our lane and out via various local footpaths, including a 10K, a half marathon and a marathon event.  They set up a checkpoint in our lane about twenty metres beyond our boundary, so that it could be verified that runners had completed that part of the course.  Today’s blip is a photograph taken by Mrs GOG of the Checkpoint, its staff and a couple of approaching runners.
