We've made the annual migration to Arizona. We rolled into the yard last Sunday afternoon. Ever since, we've been busy with jobs to do.

The Arizona room that was added over the summer in our absence is looking great. Now, it needs flooring, blinds and sun screens. We have the ceramic tile chosen for the flooring. The sun screens are on order. We're expecting someone to arrive tomorrow to give us an estimate on the blinds. I will need to do some painting in the Arizona room to finish up trim. With any luck at all it will be in use by the end of the month. It will be nice to have a space to set up my sewing machine and my easel.

I'm already back in the swing of things. I've met with both quilting groups in the past week. I've found some fabric bargains to use for the community quilts and also have purchased some used sheets from the thrift store to donate for quilt backings.

The kitchen is in some disorder as appliances have been ousted to make room for creating a backsplash. It got as far as setting the tiles before we left for home in March. Now it needs grouting. We are able to access the refrigerator but the stove remains disconnected until the tile is done. Luckily, we have a microwave and a toaster oven to tide us over until the job is completed.

The temperatures are a bit warm in the afternoon with highs in the low 30s C./high 80s F. The desert cools beautifully overnight so the mornings are fresh. Yuma days are usually sunny. Next week, the forecast is for cooler temperatures during the day. As winter arrives in the north, the cooler temperatures arrive here. At home we are seeing snow warnings in the mountain passes this week.

Our wonderful neighbours have relocated to California. It is not the same here without them. Across the street, renters play their music and their dogs bark when we move about in our yard. The house beside us is now empty and for sale. Things change. Not always for the better.
