Red-backed Shrike

This is a very odd looking little bird and another one I've never seen before, looking so different from the male Turkestan Shrike, this female has a pattern on her wings as though someone has 'doodled' with a brown felt pen a random chevron or scale pattern! She also looks vaguely like a Nightjar around her eyes and beak and as for her camoflague against this twig, well it's just perfect! Another fantastic discovery for me and it's so great to see so many different birds in Oman at the moment.
