A Sasanach's Skye photos

Picnic Table

Situated at Loch Cuithir famed for its diatomite extraction many years ago but now a peaceful retreat at the end of a long and bumpy track. I doubt many visitors are tempted up here but it is well worth the excursion.

I have no doubt that on a warm summers afternoon there will be a multitude of Dragon and Damsel flies flitting acros these lochs. Not to mention the sound of the skylarks for their beautiful summer song. And to be here away from the sound of traffic, people, in fact everything except nature itself. Relaxing!

However tonight it was drizzling with low cloud and swarms of midges. The time when I took the photograph was 21 minutes past 9 pm. The light was failing, the shot required a 6 second exposure.

The map position is my best guest since Sgurr a Mhadaidh Ruaidh (which means 'The hill of the Red Fox) is not shown. It does not feature in this picture although Beinn Edra does, it is the hill furthest away.
