It's my dad's 10th anniversary on Thursday but I'm away, so Mme Tepeka, the kids and I went out to mark the occasion a little early. (We couldn't think of the right word to describe it. Celebrate is obviously wrong. Commemorate sounds too pretentious. Perhaps simply 'remember' strikes the right balance, although one child barely remembers their grandfather and the other not at all.)

Anyway, the pic is of Mme Tepeka's gin and tonic (actually just gin at this stage) and its enormous ice sphere.

And a fun night it was too. If my dad had been there, he'd have ordered his steak well done and a sweet white wine to wash it down. And I'd have mocked him mercilessly. And he wouldn't have cared. I miss that. And him.
