Mono-Monday: Time

"Ocean is more ancient than the mountains, and freighted with the memories and the dreams of Time."  H. P. Lovecraft

I spent the morning at the beach just south of Charleston.  This is a shot of the Morris Island Lighthouse as seen from the north end of Folly BeachThe lighthouse now stands several hundred feet offshore. When it was constructed in 1876 the lighthouse was approximately 1,200 feet (370 m) from the water's edge.  The passage of time and the subsequent construction of jetties to protect shipping lanes altered the currents causing nearly complete erosion of this section of Morris Island.  The Lighthouse is no longer safe to be manned and was decommissioned in 1962.  This end of Folly Beach which overlooks the lighthouse has many large pieces of driftwood, an example of which is shown here.

This is my entry for the mono-monday challenge, Time kindly hosted by Goran Zebuhr.
