Fishing

Today was our first free day with no excursions but plans to relax were hindered by very heavy rain and strong winds until mid afternoon.  Fortunately it cleared up sufficiently for S to go out kayaking while five of us went for a walk. We watched a young fisherman on the shore throwing a net weighted down with lead and quickly catching Rouget which I think are Red Mullet, regarded as a local favourite. Dozens of fishermen were scattered along the roadside and entertained us with their local Creole songs as they relaxed (see the extra)  Apparently many of them go out at 5 in the morning in the long wooden boats called pirogues which can be seen in the background.
